Social Media Copywriting, Social Campaign Ideation, & Social Graphics

My prior work and volunteer experiences creating, managing, and strategizing social media content have spanned many platforms and communities. 

As an intern at Michigan News for over 4 years, I have been given opportunities to write social posts, create graphics/animations for social, and come up with my own ideas for promoting the content across platforms. 

During my work with the Better Life Ministries, I have produced and designed weekly content for personal social media accounts, strategized new ideas to promote engagement and site traffic, and revamped existing social profiles.

Email Marketing

Press Release Distribution, Email Campaign Copywriting, & Email Marketing Software

My experience with Email Marketing bridges my work in academic public relations and more personalized blog-based marketing.

At Michigan News, I was fully trained in Cision software and assisted in distributing both daily reports and official press releases. This experience taught me the importance of proofreading and working diligently to release accurate information to media contacts in large outlets like the New York Times and the Washington Post.

Working with Ruth Schwenk and the Better Life Ministries focused more on presenting readers with all the weekly content across Ruth’s platforms. I worked to develop email campaigns through Flodesk that were engaging, clickable and artfully designed.

Design

Lead Graphics, Podcast Art, & Product Design

Although I never considered myself a visual artist, my undergrad education focused on User Experience Design has shown me the importance of having an understanding of graphic design basics and has allowed me to develop an eye for design. As a consumer, I appreciate strongly designed graphics and I have learned that information presently poorly is never as efficient.

My graphic design skills started with making infographics and have transformed to encompass social media graphics, promotional graphics, and more. I have become proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, but also have extensive experience using design platforms like Canva and Piktochart.

Copywriting & Editing

Social Media Copywriting, Email Marketing Copy, & Blog Post Editing

Storytelling has always been a part of my every day life. Whether it’s through my design work, personal writing habits, classwork, or just simply talking with others, I have found a deep love for crafting a story that is well told.

My experience in copywriting has simply been an extension of my storytelling skills. Projects I’ve worked on have ranged from writing professional social content copy promoting University of Michigan research, to personal Instagram captions for a client. This range of copywriting has taught me the power of making impactful and concise sentences as well as the importance of capturing the tone of a personal brand.

Podcast Assistance

Hosting Site Management, Distribution, & Promotion

If you checked out my personal passions page, you would learn that I am an avid podcast listener. In 2020 alone I spent over 18,800 minutes listening to podcasts, and that was without a daily commute!

When I was given the opportunity to assist with my first podcast at Michigan News, I was thrilled. “Listen In, Michigan” was the first podcast I ever assisted with. I then went on to help launch new a podcast in the Michigan News office titled “Beyond the Headlines” and have since used this experience at The Better Life Ministries to help with their podcast “Rootlike Faith”.

SEO Description Writing & SEO Based Blog Editing

Search Engine Optimization is extremely important for anyone in the digital space, but especially digital content creators.

With the Better Life Ministries, I edit and write SEO excerpts for two posts weekly for SEO on two different blogs.

I learned SEO skills through the Sticky SEO e-course, which focused on providing skills for optimizing your content in a sustainable and long-lasting way for bloggers. Here are my SEO based skills:
